There have been emergency no parking signs posted on the 1600 block of Kalorama NW for a construction setup area for the past 2 weeks, but no vehicles or equipment has been placed there during that time. There was construction on the sidewalk nearby that area a few weeks ago, but since that initial work, I have not seen any construction activity.
DC water has done a lot of construction in the area in the past few months and similarly had instances in which they blocked several parking spaces and did not use them for the duration of the emergency no parking notice.
Is there anything that residents can do to prevent street parking from being blocked unnecessarily? Is there any group that can be alerted of emergency no parking signs that are not being used? This is a busy residential and business area with a lot of vehicle traffic, so spots are limited to begin with, and it’s frustrating to see spots blocked for weeks at a time with no activity. There is always going to be construction and moving trucks that require spaces, but it’s annoying to see spots signed that are not used for their described purpose.”
