“Sighting of the coffee date predator”

“Dear PoPville,

Wanted to write in to let readers know the man who approaches women on the street asking for a coffee date is still around.

I was walking super fast on F street NW heading toward 6th Street NW trying to get to the metro when a man stopped me.

He asked if I knew of any Thai or Mexican restaurants in the area. Also made a weird remark about me walking fast; said I had a “terminator walk”. I couldn’t think of any places in the moment and said sorry but told him to head in a different direction where more restaurants are. He then told me he just moved here and lived in DuPont circle. Something felt off and then he asked if I would get coffee with him sometime. I immediately realized he was likely the same guy readers have written in about before told him no thanks. I hustled off and luckily he didn’t push it or follow.

Just wanted to write in and let everyone to be vigilant of this man, he’s still active.

Description is he is around 5’10, normal/athletic build. I believe he is white or possibly middle eastern. He wore a blue baseball cap and light puffer jacket. He had a scruff and I think was missing a bottom front tooth.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
