“Seconds later my purse that was on chair under my jacket fell to the floor and I had a bad feeling immediately.”

“Dear PoPville,

My husband and I were sitting at the bar [Friday] at 6:30 pm at Shaw’s Tavern having a drink when a man bumped into me and ordered a drink.

Seconds later my purse that was on chair under my jacket fell to the floor and I had a bad feeling immediately. I quickly picked up my purse and checked it to find that my wallet was missing.

I confronted the tall man who was black 6 ft 3 and nicely dressed and said ´you have my wallet’. He responded by opening his coat up to me and saying ´I don’t have nothing, check me, check me.’ We went back and forth like this for 2 minutes and eventually he, I, my husband, Shaw tavern’s manager Rob, and a woman server working there, all ended up outside where he was continuing to say check me I don’t have it, check me. He pulled out a stack of metro cards and I assumed they were all stolen because who has a stack of metro cards. The manager called 911 and the man got spooked, dropped my wallet, and took off running. The police came quickly because the call came in as a robbery (not theft) and I filed a police report.

This robber was stealth. He managed to get into my bag under my jacket and get to my wallet which was under my hat and gloves in my bag. Please tell the community to be alert and cautious. I’m lucky I was not injured during the confrontation and that I got my wallet back. The manager Rob was very supportive and did all the right things at the right time.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
