What the Helen of Troy is This

Today* in Hawks*** around Town – Bats or Chimney Swifts? Survey Says – Chimney Swifts!

Ed. Note: We’ve previously had sightings/debates here and here, also in Edgewood.

Last night Rebecca asked around 7:30pm: “huge swarm of bats nearby Edgewood Rec Center?!?”

Rebecca later followed up: “CHIMNEY SWIFTS! I asked an expert bird friend. They did, in fact, all dive into that chimney together!”

Vera Marie replied: “My friends thought these were birds; coworkers thinks bats. This was around dusk at the neighboring rooftop a few weeks ago”

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
