Balangay’s website says:

“Balangay is the name for the traditional voyaging ships of the Filipinos. An incredible symbol of the rich Filipino history, culture, and community that Chef Wing strives to infuse within each dish we serve. Our menu honors time tested culinary traditions with new flavors of creativity. We hold the door open for all tastes with exciting vegan, fresh seafood, and savory meat dishes , there is truly a dish for everyone.

Chef Wing is from Roxas, Palawan, in the beautiful island country of the Philippines. Chef Wing learned his love of cooking from his mother, who put him in charge of cooking meals for his 6 brothers and sisters when he was young. Since his time in the United States, Chef Wing has expanded his repertoire to include expertise in Italian, Norwegian, Cambodian and Indian cuisine. It is easy to see and taste these influences in his unique expression of his Filipino heritage through food. Growing up by the sea, Chef Wing combines familiar island flavors with an Asian twist that tastes like a little piece of paradise.

Currently we are located inside of Bullfrog Bagels H street location in DC’s historic “Atlas District”. Our neighborhood is rich in diversity and liveliness! We strive to contribute our own flavor to this neighborhood’s history. Come in and experience Balangay and watch us grow!”
