Shannon asked: “is this what renting is like in DC or am I being scammed? It’s from what I thought was a reputable company”
Survey says:
“Definitely scam. Saying they don’t have your results yet but assume you’re qualified and asking for this is a giant”
“Have been renting in DC for years now and have never seen this- this seems like a scam”
“100% scam. This is against the law if it’s a company”
“The grammar. Straight up a scam. Maybe hiding behind a fake email.”
“scam”
Shawn adds:
“I’m so keen not to mansplain to an actual rocket scientist [Ed note: Shannon’s bio says “Professional rocket scientist”], but I’m formerly zillow
A few tips:
1. Trust your gut, like in this case
2. Read apt reviews online
3. Everything in email / in writing
4. Ask around!
5. Be willing to walk
Good luck and welcome to DC!”
Shannon replies: “I appreciate your insight. The reviews online seemed promising and we were able to tour the apartment with a rep from the company. It didn’t feel shady until this email. Totally willing to walk I’m just disappointed”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
