“Dear PoPville,
After being out of town for a couple weeks I was so thrilled to see that pylons have been installed on SB 11th @ the NW corner of Lincoln Park, dividing the traffic pattern for those turning left from E Cap in the right hand and left hand left turn lanes. I remember a few months back, a poster wrote in about a traffic ticket for “cutting a police car off” when she was in the left most left turn lane (which directs drivers either southbound on 11th or westbound on North Carolina) and correctly went straight down 11th whereas the officer was in the right most left hand lane which directs drivers westbound on Mass or E Capitol. I drive this route really frequently and almost without fail someone in the right most left turn lane will cross over into my lane (going south on 11th).

There’s a very clear schema posted on a sign before that turn and yet! It’s so dangerous to drivers correctly in the left hand lane to have drivers in the right hand lane cross over mid-intersection, and I’ve been forced into the left turn lanes to go around Lincoln Park many times. I sometimes honk for awareness but with the driving in DC these days I stopped doing that because people seem to be on a hair trigger. Anyway, now there are pylons dividing the direction that those lanes direct drivers into and I’m so happy to see this dangerous intersection addressed. Jury is still out on whether this will alleviate the problem or if people will just run them over, but I appreciate the physical traffic guidance very much.”
