“After my time expires for a spot with a two-hour sign, can I move to another spot on the SAME street?”

Joel asks: “I’ve tried reading the parking regs with no luck. Wonder if anyone can answer this question:

After my time expires for a spot with a two-hour sign, can I move to another spot on the SAME street?

(no permit on the car)”

Some early replies:

“It’s 2 hours in all of Zone 2, so choose wisely.”

“Nope – you are not supposed to park for more than 2 hours in the entire zone so even moving to another part of the neighborhood doesn’t get you out of the 2 hour limit.”

“It applies to the whole zone.”

“While the earlier replies may be technically correct, my understanding is that when the video car scans plates to ticket it’s comparing data block to block. So as long as you move at least to the next block you’re probably okay.”

“This is correct. Moving to another block should work. They are making sure you aren’t parked in one spot all day, but system can’t distinguish between spots on same block, so scans tags block by block. Otherwise, you couldn’t run errands all around one zone w/o risking ticket.”
