“I am very grateful to this woman and I wish I had a way of thanking her properly.”

“Dear PoPville,

Tuesday evening I was playing tennis at our neighborhood court on G st. NE. I landed on my ankle wrong and it gave out underneath me. I heard this unnerving crunch noise and was in a lot of pain. After a few minutes of crying on the ground my boyfriend managed to get me up and we started to hobble off the court. Then an older woman who had apparently watched my fall from her apartment balcony across the street came over to us holding crutches.

In the moment, I was so moved but also a little confused by her kindness and asked if we could give them back to her when we were done using them to get home. She shook her head and insisted that we could take them. I am very grateful to this woman and I wish I had a way of thanking her properly. In the chaos of the moment, I failed to get her name or phone number. Hopefully, I will cross paths with her again so I can thank her properly. Just wanted to share another story of stranger kindness.”
