“Where can I find resources on setting up a rental agreement/lease while following DC laws?”

“Dear PoPville,

I recently purchased my first condo (yay!) that is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath where each room has its own bathroom. My hope is to rent out the second bedroom so that I can get some help with paying the mortgage, while I’d be living in the other bedroom of course.

My question is, being someone who knows absolutely nothing much about DC laws much less about renting, where do I start with renting out the room?

Where can I find resources on setting up a rental agreement/lease while following DC laws? I heard from DCRA that I needed a business license, so I went ahead with that. Was that silly of me to do? I’ve been a renter previously who has looked for roommates via craigslist/facebook, but is there a better way to find potential roommates as a landlord?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
