“WSC is Shangri La compared to LA Fitness”

1101 Connecticut Ave, NW via LA Fitness

“Dear PoPville,

LA Fitness’ re-opening email has NOT ONE syllable about what they’ve specifically done to clean the place, let alone anything on an ongoing basis. The WSC email you published on Monday (it’s now Tuesday) talked the talk about “deep cleaning.” How well they execute that, I sure don’t know. At least they talk the talk. I am considering switching from LAF to WSC.

Read this sentence for how much hedging they do !!
‘While closed, we’ve been working on changes aimed at making our clubs the safest place you can work out.’

So, they’ve been “working” — passive
“on changes” — it’s still in process
“aimed at” — not having achieved, but aimed at, that’s great
“making” — still in the process”

Dear Member,

We have good news! We are re-opening the Washington, DC club on Monday, June 22nd at 6am. Thank you for your patience, loyalty and support while waiting for this to happen! You have been missed and we are looking forward to welcoming you back in person this week. While closed, we’ve been working on changes aimed at making our clubs the safest place you can work out.

The club hours for now will be:

Monday – Friday 6am – 8pm
Saturday & Sunday 8am – 5pm

The direction given below is part of the Guidance for Gyms and Workout Studios, issued by the Mayor of the District of Columbia and last updated on June 18th:

Stay at home if you are sick or were recently exposed to someone with COVID-19.
Practice social distancing. Keep 6 feet of distance between you and other people who are not in your household.
Don’t shake hands, give high-fives, do elbow bumps, or touch others at the facility.
It is important to follow social distancing and cloth face covering recommendations. Employees and patrons must wear a cloth face covering when in the facility.
All individuals in the facility must wear a face covering when entering, exiting, or walking around the facility and when within 6 feet of other people.
When exercising, clients and instructors/trainers are encouraged to wear a face covering if able to do so safely. If this is not possible, individuals should increase the distance (minimum of 6 ft.) between themselves and others. You are encouraged to use on piece of equipment at a time (i.e.no circuits or super setting).
There is a limit on the “gathering capacity” so the number of people in the club will be limited and monitored.
The number of participants in a group exercise class is limited so there is at least a 10 foot distance between participants.
Contact sports, such as basketball and racquetball, will not be offered.
Personal training is permitted with a 6-foot distance between the member and trainer. If that isn’t possible, the member needs to wear a mask. Trainers and members must thoroughly wash their hands with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer, before and after their session.
Water fountains are closed off, so please bring your own water with you. Also, if you wish to use a mat or towel, please bring your own.
Showers, saunas, steam rooms, spas and pools are closed. The locker room is available only to access the toilets/restrooms and to wash hands
The Kids Klub is closed.

We encourage you to help keep yourself and your fellow members safe by familiarizing yourself with, and following, state and local guidelines.

Be well,
Your LA Fitness Team”
