The truly awful can also bring out the truly excellent.

Please continue to keep your eyes peeled for the Cremated Remains Stolen by a Package Thief in Shaw

Thanks to Shauna Shepston for sharing:

“My walking around partner today went from his aunts Zoom funeral to his ‘volunteer’ job and then came and walked around the neighborhood to help someone he had never met until today. Within 24 hours of the story posting on PoPville, over twenty neighbors signed up to go out and look this weekend … again most of them have never even met Kevin.

A guy who had this awful thing happen to him and his family this week turned out to be the most lovable, humble and nicest guy ever, even though he would have been totally justified in throwing things and screaming uncontrollably on the street.

As we were looking, a USPS man who was working in the neighborhood recognized Kevin and stopped to tell him he saw the story on the news and was telling everyone he knew to look.

The sanitation workers in the neighborhood also saw the PoPville post and agreed to keep a lookout on their route for Kevin and his family.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
