From a press release:

Pacers Running and Potomac River Running Store today announced a partnership with popular Switzerland based running shoe brand ON Shoes, in donating 5,000 of their high-performance shoes to front line workers and DC region organizations impacted by pandemic.

ON Shoe representatives reached out to the two local DMV based running store retailers to identify and distribute the collection of shoes to individuals and/or groups in need. Born in the Swiss Alps, ON running shoes are known for their patented cushioning system which is activated only during the landing or impact.

ON shipped approximately 2,500 shoes (10 pallets) to each retailer in which the employees worked heavily in sorting, sizing, and categorizing the shoe inventory. Once the stores assessed their inventory lots, Pacers and Potomac River Running collectively worked together to identify a list of organizations who would benefit from the footwear donation that have either been greatly impacted by the Covid19 pandemic and/or need to continue to stay active during this crisis and need resources to do so. Organizations and individuals range from fire and rescue, nurses, restaurant workers, local delivery personnel, grocery store workers, veterinary hospitals, and community centers.

“Pacers Running’s vision is to help as many people as possible through running, whether that is the activity of running or runners helping the broad community. Supporting these organizations and our front line workers is ingrained in our ethos as a company and we are humbled by the partnership with ON and Potomac River Running. Small businesses are the backbone of our region and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve,” said Kathy Dalby, CEO, and Chris Farley, Owner, Pacers Running.

“We are grateful to have the opportunity to work together with ON Running and our friends at Pacers Running to support our front-line workers and many other charitable organizations struggling during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Potomac Running Company owners Cathy and Ray Pugsley. “We know there are physical and mental health benefits to walking, running, and staying active and are so appreciative of the great community we serve. As your locally owned, community running stores in DC and Virginia, we look forward to continuing to promote these great causes and appreciate the wonderful support we’ve received from the local walking and running community.”

With each shoe distribution, retailers are providing a tip sheet on ways to stay active and release tension during these challenging times.”
