“Literary Cocktails at The Gibson’s upstairs bar begins Friday, February 7 with founder, Chantal Tseng.”

2009 14th Street, NW

From an email:

“Literary Cocktails, a popular weekly staple at the Reading Room of Petworth Citizen, is coming to The Gibson, the beloved speakeasy and cocktail bar located on 14thStreet to the left of Marvin, in lieu of Petworth Citizen’s unfortunate closing. Literary Cocktails at The Gibson’s upstairs bar begins Friday, February 7 with founder, Chantal Tseng.

Literary Cocktails is a weekly changing cocktail program where Tseng chooses a book to read during the week that then inspires the drinks on the menu. The literary drinks are featured alongside a short list of curated natural wines, champagne, sherry and teas. Tseng will continue to announce her book muse on her Instagram page (@shinobipaws) and serve her book inspired cocktails Fridays & Saturdays from 6pm-midnight (unless otherwise noted on social media) in the upstairs bar of the Gibson. Separately on Thursdays, Tseng will also host her Wine Bar nights which include a changing selection of natural wine and sherry in the same upstairs bar. No reservations need.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
