Violet Boutique Bidding Adieu to Shaw October 20th (“for now”)

Florida Ave between 8th and 9th Street, NW

Thanks to Cameron and Kristin for sending: “Another hit for small retail in DC. First Punch, then this.”

From Violet:

“This is a bittersweet email to write. After much thought, I’ve decided to close Violet. Our last day open will be October 20th and all sales will be final as of September 30th.

There are many reasons I’ve made this decision. Some personal. Some related to the business environment that retail, in particular small retail, will face over the next few years.

Our track record – consistently ranking for the past eight years as the highest rated women’s clothing store in Washington, DC on Yelp, winning Best Clothing Boutique in the Washington City Paper Best of Reader’s Poll six times, including this year, as well as winning Washingtonian, Washington Post Express and numerous other Best of awards – was because of the incredible support you have shown since we opened our doors in 2011.

While closing at this time is the right decision, what I will miss most of all is you. What made Violet so special was the community of incredible women who have shopped with us. The store has truly been a magical place for me and one that I will never forget. Nearly a decade ago I decided to open a small clothing store. Since then, you have all helped me make my dream come true.

Thank you for everything. I hope you can stop in and say hi before October 20th.

With much love and gratitude,

Julie”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
