“Dear PoPville,
I am a long-time resident of Capitol Hill but a very recent, first-time homeowner. The house is a contributing property to the historic district, and the front door needs to be replaced (it is heavily rotted and is also not original). I have obtained a permit to replace the door, and I am looking for recommendations for a local carpenter to create an historic reconstruction mahogany door.
I have not had any luck at the salvage centers to source an actual historic door, and none of the wooden doors fabricated by larger companies are solid wood (all are laminates).
I would greatly appreciate any advice or leads that other homeowners might have to help in my quest to replace the door.”

St. Mary Armenian Church will hold its 75th Annual Armenian Fall Food Festival October 6-7 from 11am – 8pm at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church (4135 Fessenden St. NW). Traditional Armenian Food will be available for both Carry-out and Dine-in including Lamb and Chicken Kabobs, Cheese Boreg, Baklava and a wide variety of other delicious dishes. At Generation Hope, we’re dedicated to supporting teen parents in college as they work toward earning their degrees. We are in need of caring child care volunteers for upcoming events on Saturday, October 21st (in Washington, DC), and Saturday, November 4th (in Arlington, VA).
