29 Year Old Arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder in Shooting of 11 year-old Karon Brown

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2019, in the 2700 block of Naylor Road, Southeast.

At approximately 6:57 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. While investigating, MPD was notified that a juvenile male, suffering from a gunshot wound, was taken to a Prince George’s County Fire Department Fire Station. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 11 year-old Karon Brown, of Southeast, DC.

On Saturday, July 20, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 29 year-old Tony Antoine McClam, of Southeast, DC, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) and transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

We would like to thank the community for their assistance in providing multiple tips in this case. We would also like to thank our federal partners, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the FBI Washington Field Office for their support in offering additional reward money for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect in this case.”
