“I am looking for a regular diner”

Photo by PoPville flickr user StreetsofWashington

“Dear PoPville,

I am looking for a regular diner – I’ve been in DC for three years but I haven’t quite found what I’m looking for. Do you have any recommendations?? Back in NY, there’s a family owned Greek diner on almost every block, do we have that here? Doesn’t have to be Greek, obviously, but small and family owned is a plus. An actual diner, not whatever that boujee bag of lies is on 18th. I’m looking for a place for an omelette, breakfast potatoes, coffee in a beige ceramic cup, soup when you’re sick, and hopefully paper place mats that have ads for local lock smiths. Mt Pleasant/Columbia Heights/Petworth/16th Street Heights please!!”

Ed. Note: I wouldn’t exactly call the Diner on 18th a “boujee bag of lies” though that is a phenomenal line (maybe Unconventional Diner…) Anyone know the current deal at American City Diner? As for omelette, breakfast potatoes, coffee – how about the IHOP? It’s a chain but locally owned. I’m gonna tweet George Pelecanos to see if he has any recommendations for proper Greek Diners. Stay tuned.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
