End of an Era – Banana Cafe closing after 25 Years on Barracks Row

500 8th Street, SE

Another piece of older D.C. moving on to our memories. Thanks to Barred in DC for the heads up yesterday, Banana Cafe announced on their Facebook that December 16th will be their last day:

Banana Cafe’s website says:

“Banana Cafe & Piano Bar has been proudly serving the finest Cuban, Puerto Rican and Tex-Mex cuisine in DC for well over 20 years . Come see what the excitement is all about. Dont forget to visit the Piano Bar upstairs for some world class entertainment and just plain good times with never a cover charge, and with our signature mojitos and margaritas you’ll think your right in the Caribbean!”

Updates when we learn who will take over this prime corner.
