Jacinta Bernard Photography, find her on facebook. Let me know if you want phone number.

We used her for family shots with our one-year-old. She’s great and reasonably priced.

She’s NOVA based but happy to come to DC.

I don’t know if my newborn can hold a camera (or her head up for that matter) but since she doesn’t know what money is I could probably talk her into taking photos for like 2 cookies

Newborns are not very good photographers. I suggest finding an adult.

I’m a photographer that is starting out. I am a Kidnergaten teacher so I’m great with little ones. I have newborn and LOTS of kid photography experience. You can email me and I’ll send you prices and a portfolio. I’m under $500, will get photos to you within a week (with edits) and am open to ideas or suggestions of things you’d want. Work in Mclean and live in DC so I photograph in both. Email: [email protected]

We had Jeannetta Gerrish do our wedding photos and she did an amazing job. She is based in Baltimore but works in DC as well. Her real specialty, though, is baby photography. You can find examples of her work here – http://jeannettadesignphotography.blogspot.com/?m=1

    Good luck!

I can recommend Ellie Ann Photography! She is in the Baltimore area and happily travels to the DC area for work. Newborn sessions are only $200 and she does an amazing job. Website here: http://www.ellieannphotography.com/

  • hannah

Check with Mary Ella – she did our newborn photos for under $200 IIRC!

  • Alexmom

Rosie Jones $200 does lovely work. https://www.rosiejonesphotography.com

  • Not to be a negative Nancy but I want to point something out with newborn photography- it requires extra training. Those poses could injur a child if done incorrectly, you may want to bite the bullet and pay the professional in addition to making sure they have the appropriate training.

    Good luck!

  • Laura

Highly recommend Caro Chase! You can find her work on Instagram and her website is carobaby.co

  • Cranky Old Bastard

Use the money to buy a nice camera and take your own pictures. If you already own a nice camera, even better!

Seriously, I don’t understand the appeal of these newborn photos. Everyone puts the babies in the same, often unnatural poses, and the pictures are kind of indistinguishable from baby to baby. Oh, your baby was born near Thanksgiving? Let’s shove this infant in a cornucopia! The whole thing is just trite.

Take your own pictures. They’re a lot more interesting, honestly!

    • Park View

Agree w/ Cranky Old Bastard. The photos our parents generation took of many of us as babies were great (I speak for those born in the 70’s and early 80’s). They were natural and reflected an actual moment, not a superficial pose, and they cost nothing more than the development fee at the local photo lab or pharmacy.

People do it b/c that’s what Jones do and think that’s what they too need to do, or else they aren’t being properly doting parents. And when their kids have a 1 or 2 or 3 year old bday, they’ll shell out the bucks on a catered affair to invite a whole bunch of people they don’t really b/c that’s what the friends are doing for their children – despite the fact that it stretches everyone’s budget and the kids will have no recollection of the day.

Its no wonder why we all feel so spread thin socially and financially (see https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/05/my-secret-shame/476415/)

To those who are interested in living a sane life and escaping the rat-race, may I introduce http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/ (you may have read about him in the New Yorker, Forbes or WP -https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/meet-mr-money-mustache-the-man-who-retired-at-30/2013/04/26/71e3e6a8-acf3-11e2-a8b9-2a63d75b5459_story.html?utm_term=.192a57d786d8 – but his blog is the best way to really understand his message).
