It would be nice to have more images of the unit itself, particularly to get a sense of closet space. In-unit washer/dryer is a nice touch. It’s more than I’ve ever wanted to pay for a studio (I pay less for a one bedroom in Petworth without the fancy bells and whistles), but I can understand why folks would shell out for that with the included amenities, particularly the gym.

I lived here for a year in 2013 (I think?). Anyway, we paid $1825 for a 1 bedroom plus den and that included parking for two cars as well. We got a good move-in special. The rooftop is amazing and I really liked the staff when I lived there. The gym is really small. I don’t think I could justify this much for a studio though.

Rents in DC generally are more expensive now than in 2013. This are in particular is incredibly more developed in 2017 than it was in 2013.

That said, there are literally hundreds of brand new units that just went online down there, so I’m having a hard time understanding how that’s not creating price pressure on the existing buildings. $2k seems like a lot to pay for a studio.

      • Formerly ParkViewRes

Yeah, I know how rent works in DC as I’m a currently a LL for my house there. I was just saying what we paid in 2013, and on top of that noting we received rental concessions.

I live in a building in this neighborhood with way more amenities and an even better rooftop. Includes an indoor lap pool as well. Rent at my building is lower than rent at the Onyx. And 555 sqft is tiiiiiiny. I looked here but passed without thinking twice after viewing other buildings in the area.

        • Hill Denizen

Ummmm, 555 sq ft for a studio is definitely not tiny. I’ve seen jr one bedrooms that size.

          • Anonymous

            Yeah I wouldn’t consider 555 “tiny”

        • AB

Does your building have 2bedroom units? I’m looking for one around there and would love an indoor pool?

      • Anon

Yeah, and for comparison I lived in the area when there was almost nothing there (2006-2007) and paid $1600/month for an entire house!

        • MadMax

When I was in college in Wilmington in ’99 I think I paid $350 for a 1BR / 1BA and that was a pretty nice place.

        • Hill Denizen

I remember when I moved here in 2008, the new buildings in Navy Yard were offering three months free rent and free parking.

  • Nancy

This was one of the places I looked at when moving a couple of years ago. One bedrooms are small enough without losing an entire living room wall to the kitchen. Not sure when that became a style, but saw a few of those. Fortunately found all I wanted and with a real kitchen and living room. Yea!

  • Reality

way overpriced for a studio in that location! sorry!
