Thanks to districtcuisine for tweeting us: “Signage up for Abunai Poke at 1920 L Street, NW”

Abunai Poke’s facebook page says:

“Quick-service restaurant serving POKE bowls. Coming soon to downtown, DC!”

Ed. Note: A couple weeks ago we learned that Poki District is coming to the former Amorini Panini space at 906 F St, NW.

Updates as they get closer to opening.

They have a food truck: https://www.abunaifood.com/

That’s awesome! I just wish it was closer to my office. I had poke for the first time in Hawaii a few weeks ago and could not get enough. Hopefully it’s not too $$$ here.

Well considering the distance the fish has to travel compared to Hawaii its going to be more expensive. When I’m there I usually just buy it at the Foodland grocery prepared food counter and eat it with a spoon.

See above for the food truck prices. I can’t imagine it will be too different.

I will add that, while I have never had food from the truck, it always seems to sell out. I eat a late lunch and whenever I see the truck, it is sold out by 130.

The poke bubble is starting to take shape

      A healthier bubble than some.

      They’re all over LA

        I meant in DC

So excited for this to open! Also important to note that the Abunai team is from Hawaii, so you know it’s legit!

For anyone else who’d never heard of poke until this month, here’s the Wikipedia page:

Pronounced po-keh for those who want to know. Easy to make at home except maybe for the limu seaweed and kukui nut.

  • MadMax

Their truck is one of the best in operation in DC right now. Pretty bummed I no longer work over by here…
