Thanks to Adam for sending word about the newest Compass Coffee location. Last week we noted La Colombe’s quest for coffee domination with their coming location at the old Dickey’s Frozen Custard space on I Street, NW. Obviously that aggression could not stand unchecked so stay tuned for lots of great coffee options on I Street very soon.

What’s a guy gotta do to get a Compass Coffee in Petworth???

    • Ghost

I really prefer just brewing it myself at home, usually turns out better for me, cheaper

but can you nitro-infuse your cold brew at home? I can’t and that ish is delicious.

      • nevermindtheend

And you can refill your tins at the shop!

  • Mitch

    not bad!

Best. Coffee. In. DC. Their roasts are everything I’d been searching for in coffee for years.

Farragut Square is going from a coffee desert to an oasis in one short year (Coffee Bar, La Colombe and Compass). Love that local and regional third-wave businesses can penetrate the Starbucks zone.

    • Truxton Thomas

      Heck yeah!

    • jumpingjack

Agree! I love Coffee Bar but it’s too far north to be convenient for many of us, so I’m extra excited about the two new additions.

My only complaint about Coffee Bar is that the pastries are TERRIBLE. I’ve tried the pop-overs, the croissants, the bagels… all awful.

        • anon

Well, that makes sense if all they are competing with is Starbucks’ pastry quality.

          • ***

honestly I would prefer Starbucks over the offerings at TCB.

        • jumpingjack

DC in general needs better pastries. Our good pastry options are few and far between.

  • Pixie

Yes! Bring all the coffee to Farragut.
    .
Also, another Taylor Gourmet is going into the old Crumbs bakery on 17th near H St. Even though there’s a Taylor two blocks away on Penn Ave.

  • Abby

Yes! La Colombe is not my favorite, I much prefer Compass.

    • anon

A La Colombe fan here ….

      • Abby

Cool! We can both get coffee we love near Farragut Square.
