  1. Maryland 7th Congressional District is represented by Elijah Cummings. Interpret that however you want.

  2. It’s probably an underpaid staffer who had to buy a car to cart the member of congress around the city. Most likely they work for lyft on the side.

  3. So this is the obvious rational answer, but we’re talking Congress here…

  4. usually don’t have to buy the car, it’s usually your already personal car that they make you put the plates on. And then cover the insurance. Gotta love the Hill.

  5. Exactly. And most Democratic members of Congress would not be caught dead driving a non-American car.

  6. many foreign cars are made in america now

  7. True, but most foreign marques building cars in the US aren’t using union labor, and these politicians rely heavily on the support of unions.

  9. Accords are assembled in Ohio.

My uncle worked at the Honda plant in Ohio, and IIRC it was a Union shop.

  11. Hopefully this post won’t get this staffer in trouble!

  12. Beat me to it! (I spotted the article on the front page of the Washington Post’s website this morning, but I guess it was up yesterday in the late afternoon.)

  13. And now http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/01/politics/elijah-cummings-lyft/index.html

Laughed at “a D.C. blog called “Popville”” – those wacky bloggers with their funny blog names . . .

  14. Not a real Lyft, no VA state inspection or TNC registration
