“Washington, DC’s First Annual Blessing of Bicycles

Saturday, May 7, 2016 11 am

Church of the Ascension & St. Agnes
12th + Mass Ave, NW

The non-denominational event will be held on church lawn; if rain, it will move in to church nave.

In addition to Blessing of Bicycles, representatives from DDOT, WABA, National Museum of Women in the Arts will speak at event. Capital Bikeshare is contributing bike lights and bike share passes…

Non-denominational event is kick-off to National Bike Month…

There will be a (savory + sweet) bake sale and sale of tee shirts with the very cool (see attached image) patron saint of cyclists, during event, to benefit church’s accessible renovation fund.”

I’m trying to remember the story of Madonna del Ghisallo from back in Catholic school. Was it a bicycle accident that caused the front of her breasts to miraculously relocate to her waist?

Seems like a lesser-known Madonna to me:

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not, but the shape on her waist is a bicycle chain link. The artist incorporated all kinds of cycling iconography into the image (which as a cyclist and avid fan of the Highlights Magazine hidden picture puzzle, I love).

I know, but the placement makes it look like a pair of nips, too.

It makes me happy that the image they chose for the bicycle is a road bike and not a fixed gear bike.

Argh. You can’t have a “first annual” event. Needs to happen more than once to become “annual.”

Glad to know that someone else cares about our language! So rare these days!
