Anyone up for a friendly snowball fight/sledding party in Takoma, at the park around 3rd/4th and Whittier?

Is there a good hill over there?? If so, we are in!

  • I usually go on the hill at the entrance to Rock Creek Park/way by Calvert St. in Woodley Park :)

This spot is great, but it quickly becomes too crowded to be fun.

Far and away the best spots in the city are battery Kemble and the hill at Nebraska and Oregon NW (Army Distaff Foundation). Nothing else comes close.
I guess you can sled Capitol Hill now, but only adults think sledding is fun when the primary purpose is symbolic. That’s barely even a hill.

It’s pretty good sledding. We busted the ban last year but it’s permitted now. Kids had a blast.

    The hill at Gallaudet University

I’m confused. I thought the sledding on Cap Hill was a one-time waiver. Did they lift the ban permanently? Thanks!

    • JG

      Yes, I believe they did.

Upshur Park. Dodge the trees and water fountain. And tennis courts. And the Upshur Rec Center.

The hill by Howard Law in Van Ness.

  • I don’t know that there are any. Capitol Hill (the neighborhood) is relatively flat.
