Looks like his left ear is nipped? Might be a Community Cat. With the extra cold weather he might just be looking for a little extra warmth for the day…

So a cat with a clipped ear is a community cat? I had no idea that was a thing.

      • houseintherear

A clipped ear means it was a (likely) feral street cat who was captured, neutered/spayed, and released.

        • AG

Yep. It prevents them from being recaptured.

Agree. I believe there are a few colonies in that area, so it’s definitely possible.

Thanks everyone! The cat is very friendly and gets along with my dog, so I was convinced it belongs to someone… I’m still hopeful it does :)

If it doesn’t, maybe it could become your cat? :)

  • Erin

You’ll be inundated with this advice, and you likely already have done so, but be sure to have the cat scanned for a microchip and report to Washington Humane Society.

Community cats have the tip of their left ear clipped off. Always the left ear. If you find one of those guys, they’re fixed and have all their shots. We’re encouraged to feed them and put out shelters for warmth!
