A very good tipster sends word that President Obama had his birthday dinner at Fiola Mare last night in Georgetown. Apparently there were a ton of secret service. Word is also that Fiola Mare is absolutely delicious too.

That’s where I celebrated mine this year. It was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend.

Then who was at Mintwood Place last night around 7pm? There were a ton of secret service and motorcade vehicles outside.

I sat next to the owner when I was having dinner at Roses Luxury and she was very nice lady. I have yet to take her up on her offer on dinner at Fiola Mare. Guess it’s time to go check it out.

There is secret service and other security all over DC these days as delegates from several dozen African countries are here. Barcelona was entirely roped off for a private event, lots of secret service, etc.

Barcelona is terrible and a chain. They couldn’t find somewhere better to go? And on 14th St no less?

Might have been the only available for a private event. Tons of stuff was booked long ago.
It’s a big space and quite nice inside (even if it’s a chain and the food is meh).

We celebrated our anniversary at Fiola Mare earlier this summer and it was outstanding. We were treated like royalty that night, so I can’t even begin to imagine the service POTUS got last night. I HIGHLY recommend going there for a special occasion.

Josh Earnest just refuted this: https://twitter.com/jtsthehill/status/496709218364567552

There are a lot of leaders from various African countries in town this week. Could it have been one of them?

And tough to get reservations at – tried for this Friday as high-rolling cousin and his family are coming to town and want to grab dinner – luckily there are now lots of other great restaurants in this city. What a change from just a few years ago.
