From a press release:

“Springtime at The Yards will bring the opening of Ice Cream Jubilee, the first dedicated store location for the popular DC ice cream brand that won the People’s Choice award at the DC Scoop competition last July. The 1,076 square foot store will be located in the Lumber Shed on Water Street at Third Street SE in The Yards, DC’s exciting new waterfront neighborhood in the Capitol Riverfront area.

Featuring a wide variety of creative flavors including Thai Iced Tea, Banana Bourbon Caramel, and Peanut Butter and Jam, made with local cream and other delicious ingredients, the Ice Cream Jubilee store at The Yards will offer ice cream and sorbet lovers of all tastes and ages individual servings, as well as a selection of pre-packaged half pints in a wide variety of exotic flavors that have quickly become DC favorites. Special limited-time seasonal flavors will also be available through the new store.

“Ice Cream Jubilee is the perfect complement to the growing array of places to eat and enjoy at The Yards,” said Deborah Ratner Salzberg, president of Forest City Washington and self- described ice cream aficionado. “It will be located at the edge of Yards Park which is the perfect setting to enjoy their imaginative ice creams and sorbets on a sunny day, or just about any day in my book.”

I was about to write this off, but “Thai Iced Tea” ice cream sounds like the best idea I’ve heard all day. I’ll be there.

Yeah, I could see that being really good. Since I live nearby I’ll have to try it (despite the inevitable bloating and gastric distress afterward).

This sounds cool, but I’ve never seen or heard of it. Where else could one find their product?

I think they have a stall at Union Market.

I’ve seen it at the Silver Spork (former Marvelous Market) near Eastern Market.

Of course that’s slated to become an Italian market any day now…

You can purchase Ice Cream Jubilee at Each peach Market (Mt Pleasant) or Glenns Garden Market (N of DuPont Station) as well.

  • Hello new friends! I’m thrilled to bring my first store to the Navy Yard! Thanks for the love! (Leaping from government attorney to icecreampreneur is big step, and I’m so happy to get the PoP stamp of approval.)

To all who asked about trying Ice Cream Jubilee flavors, it’s available at Glen’s Garden Market (Dupont), Each Peach (Mt. Pleasant), and for local delivery from RelayFoods.com. We made a big splash in July, winning the DC Scoop competition at Union Market. Ice Cream Jubilee isn’t sold at Union Market, but it’s made at the similarly named Union Kitchen.

I hope that helps! For more, check out @icecreamjubilee or http://www.icecreamjubilee.com

Forest City has done a great job getting unique places to come over to Navy Yard. Bluejacket, TaKorean, Osteria, Agua, and now this cool ice cream place.

When I first moved here I was scared the fact everything was ‘new’ would mean we’d see nothing but TGIFs and other awful chain places. Sure Gordon Biersch is a chain, but you can’t beat their late night happy hour and the layout is great. Nando’s is simply delicious as well, so I don’t mind.

Other ‘locally owned’ places include Kruba, Cornercopia and Lot 38 Espresso. And all those places are delicious.
