This Weekend’s Metro Track Work – Arlington Cemetery Station Closed – UPDATE Sunday rebuilding work Canceled Due to Weather

Update from WMATA:

“Metro has cancelled all scheduled rebuilding work on Sunday, December 8, to allow crews to prepare for–and respond to–expected winter weather conditions. The move also allows Metro to allocate additional resources to preparing the system for Monday morning’s commute.

Updated service information for Sunday, December 8, 2013:
• Trains will run at normal Sunday intervals on all lines
• No planned track work on any line
• Previously announced bus shuttles on the Blue Line have been CANCELLED
• Regular Sunday hours (7 a.m. until midnight)

Metro riders are encouraged to visit wmata.com/snow for information and maps showing pre-planned Metrobus route adjustments that may be necessary due to road conditions.”

Red Line 10 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 through closing Sun, Dec. 8
Trains every 10 to 20 minutes

Red Line trains will operate as follows:

Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: Every 20 minutes throughout the weekend
Additional trains between Grosvenor & Silver Spring: Every 10 minutes 9AM-9PM

Work Performed: Improvements to third-rail infrastructure and track conditions between Twinbrook and Grosvenor stations; leak mitigation and track improvements between Forest Glen and Glenmont stations.

Orange Line 10 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 through closing Sun., Dec. 8
Trains every 20 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Reconstruction of the station platforms at Minnesota Ave and Deanwood stations will continue, along with tie renewal, insulator renewal and structural improvements.

Blue Line 10 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 through closing Sun, Dec. 8
Buses replace trains between Rosslyn and Pentagon

Blue Line trains will in two segments:

Between Franconia-Springfield & Mt Vernon Sq: Every 15 minutes during daytime hours (via Yellow Line bridge)
Between Largo Town Center and Rosslyn: Every 20 minutes

Free shuttle buses will replace Blue Line trains between Rosslyn and Pentagon stations. Add 15 minutes of travel time for the bus trip between Rosslyn and Pentagon.

Arlington Cemetery will be served by shuttle buses to/from Pentagon station only. Add 10 minutes of travel time for the bus trip between Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery. Passengers should use Yellow Line service to Pentagon and transfer to free shuttle buses.

Station Closed: Arlington Cemetery

Work Performed: NTSB-recommended track circuit module replacement and improvements to third-rail infrastructure and track conditions.

Yellow Line 10 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 through closing Sun., Dec. 8
Trains every 15 minutes between Huntington and Fort Totten

Yellow Line trains will operate every 15 minutes throughout the weekend due to the schedule effects of rebuilding work on the Blue and Green lines.

Green Line 10 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 through closing Sun., Dec. 8
Trains every 15 minutes

Green Line trains will operate every 15 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Rail renewal and welding to provide a smoother ride.”
