If I’m understanding this story correctly this should be PROPS TO THE CITIZEN as it was the victim who weeks later identified his assailant on the street and got the police involved again. Yeah the cops arrested him, but not because they were successful in their investigation, but because the victim was lucky and spotted him.

How would anyone but the citizen have been able to identify the robber? What else were the police supposed to do in this situation? Be realistic – this success was a combination of good police presence (i.e., having bike units nearby) and an assertive citizen. Both deserve credit.

Picture makes me wonder why Bicycle cops don’t cruise bike lanes, especially new ones. Maybe a little more police presence there and a good ticket-issuing “education” campaign might lead to more aware drivers, parkers, and bikers.
