Scuttlebutt Confirmed – Stoney’s Opening 2nd Location in West End

2101 L Street, NW

A few weeks ago a reader shared some scuttlebutt that a Stoney’s would be moving into the former Lite Stars space at 2101 L St, NW. Washington Business Journal now confirms the lease has been signed pending liquor license approval.

My biggest pet peeve about moving from Silver Spring to Logan Circle is losing easy access to the Quarry House. Logan’s best approximation for the neighborhood pub is Stoney’s, and it’s an embarrassment. Lousy music, lousy food, mediocre beer selection, and pricey pints that aren’t really pints. Now they’re exporting their brand of soul-less, overpriced garbage to a second location. Meh… There’s no place like the Quarry House, and there should be less places like Stoneys.

    • More grilled cheese for me!

Agree that the food is pretty lousy….

Couldn’t disagree with you more, Alex. My friends and I like– no, love– Stoney’s. It’s just good, simple greasy American food. I love the food there because it’s no frills, cheap, and delicious. My only issues there have been the service.

And actually, the beer selection is above average. I think you may just be a hater.

      • I’m neutral about Stoney’s, but I think you have a low bar for beer selection. Stoney’s beer options are pretty average, especially in that area.

No. The food is not good – even on a “cheap, no frills” level. The last time I ate there, for breakfast, my scrambled eggs literally came sitting in a rather deep puddle of melted butter and/or grease. It was very off-putting.

the food at stoney’s is not amazing but for some reason i love it. however, the new location is odd. Sure it’s close to GW, but how many Class-A office buildings have a dive bar? I question the landlords more than i question Stoney’s.
