What are folks doing who have to walk their dogs? Is it simply insane?

And just in from the folks at Taylor Gourmet – both of their stores are open today (1116 H Street NE and 485 K St NW). If you know of other places open please leave in comments but unless you have to walk the dog it might be best just to stay home.

At least a handful of places in Bloomingdale are open. The only one I’ve been to so far is the Dunkin Donuts at RI and NJ. And no lines…

  • Prince Of Petworth

Pizza lovers: Just saw on twitter, Pete’s and Red Rocks are both open. Free t-shirt if anyone brings me a slice…

And this just in via email Tryst, Diner and Open City:

No matter what you are calling it, you can count on us being OPEN. We are all stocked up and ready to serve our neighborhoods. We’ve got you covered with hot chocolates, DC’s BEST Cappuccinos, fresh baked pastries, a FULL BAR, your favorite comfort foods, and of course breakfast all day & night!

  • Luckily my dog is lovin’ it.

Any word on the Bloomingdale joints? Windows and Big Bear?

    • Prince Of Petworth

I think Big Bear is open but I saw one twitter user say it is pretty cold inside. Not sure about Windows.

      • Matt

Windows hasn’t been open on any of the days that it actually snows. Both Big Bear and Timor have opened up repeatedly, so I suspect they’ll be open again.

        • Prince Of Petworth

Yeah Big Bear is open but apparently very crowded!

    • Prairie Style

Not positive about today, but Timor Bodega has been open consistently throughout the last week providing a much needed ice cream fix.

My dog isn’t walking at all – more like a galloping sort of swimming motion.

    • Shannon

I was going to go with leaping jackrabbit, but I like your description better. My dog normally loves snow, but this has her completely unnerved.

    Columbia Heights Coffee is open.

  • Prince Of Petworth

Social is open and having happy hour all day!

  • Our dog enjoys cold weather, but is no fan of falling snow — while it is falling, there is nothing good to sniff. The recent accumulation, resulting in snowbanks as high as she is (and she’s not tiny), makes pooping problematic — it’s hard to find a good space off the sidewalk. Still, this is not as bad for her as the time we were at the beach and a tropical storm blew through for an entire day.

Bear Grylls could film a “Man vs. Wild” in DC right now. We even have the requisite hotels for him to stay in.

  • The Heights and Tynan Coffee in Columbia Heights are open.

Heller’s is open. Fresh Glazed Doughnuts!

  • DCAC

One of my brand new neighbors (yes, a gentrifier! scandal!) has been walking his dog with a shovel in front of him. He’s keeping a shovel-width of sidewalk pretty well cleared to the pavement for the entire block! My hero!

    Anyone know about Wonderland?

    • Prince Of Petworth

      Wonderland opens at 5pm!

  • Campbell

How about Target? If I leave the house and encounter a closed sign, I’ll cry.

    • Prince Of Petworth

Word is Target closed at 2pm.

  • parkviews

    Anyone know about Looking Glass?

    • Prince Of Petworth

Both Wonderland and Looking Glass Lounge will open at 5pm!

  • Anon

Yea! The “Double Wallop” is subsiding. At long last. Finally! It certainly has been one for the ages.

  • Solly

Solly’s is open. It never closes.
