Noodles and Co. Closes 19th Street Location

Tough times continue for Noodles and Company, earlier last month they closed their Woodley Park location and now a reader reports:

“The Noodles spot next to the Grk restaurant on 19th & M Street in South Dupont is closed, they’re moving everything out.”

They opened up the 19th Street location in early 2014. Updates when we learn who takes over the space. This leaves only one Noodles spot left in DC – 1667 K Street, NW.

  • They’re location in Rockville Town Center shut down a couple weeks ago, too.

Good riddance! While I like the idea of a noodle-centric restaurant, this was a pitiful excuse for one.

Agreed! Great concept, and their execution used to be better, but the last couple of times I went their food was nearly inedible. And rather pricey considering the ingredients.

  • All 5 locations in Austin, Texas closed on the same day a few weeks ago. Sad to see.

  • I’ll defend them a little bit: When on the road or even just shopping in the ‘burbs, I think their food is generally pretty good and a decent, predictable alternative over a lot of fast food. Regular portion sizes are very reasonable, with the option of upsizing if you must. That said, the two times I tried the 19th St location I was very disappointed. It seemed to have QC issues that kept me from going back.

    • Noodles is my go-to spot for lunch because they’re the only place here (in Crystal City) where you can get a nice salad or soup. Sandwiches or pizza have always seemed too heavy for lunch.

    • I only ever went to the one in Pentagon City (most recently about five years ago) and found it to be pretty decent. Seemed like the kind of stuff that would be hard to screw up. Surprised it went so downhill.

  • General Grant Circle

They have a location in Farragut so that location was kind of redundant

  • To pile on, their Georgetown location by the Social Safeway closed too.

  • Put in a Nordstrom Rack. People love that stuff.

  • This whole chain has been in decline. When it was just out in the suburbs, it was a perfectly average place to grab a quick inexpensive meal. But, the two downtown locations have been terrible: mediocre food, dirty, poor service. I used to go maybe one a month or so, but finally just stopped going all together.
