65 Year Old Man Assaulted in a Robbery back in May Dies of Injuries

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in in the 300 block of Franklin Street, Northeast.

On Sunday, May 10, 2015 at approximately 8:00 am, members from the Fifth District responded for the report of a robbery that occurred in the 300 block of Franklin Street, Northeast. Upon arrival, they located the victim who stated he was assaulted and then robbed of US Currency. The victim was transported and admitted to a local hospital for treatment. On Wednesday, September 9, 2015, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The remains of the decedent were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where it was determined that the cause of death was from blunt force trauma and manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The decedent has been identified as 65 year-old Santos Garcia, of no fixed address.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”
