  • Hey Dan – Following the entries, could you post on open thread on gardening advice for DC? I attempted to grow tomatoes and some herbs in my front garden this year, and got about 2 weeks of good growth before they withered and died (despite frequent watering). Would love to hear some tips from those with green thumbs!

Final garden haul? My tomatoes (33 at last count) are THIS close to turning red. Gardening season’s far from over!

I agree. September can be such a bountiful season. Please keep it for another month!

    • YES (and I am shouting)! It’s not even Labor Day! A few years ago I harvested a tomato in December- August is when heirloom tomatoes and melons and other long season crops are starting to produce.
I love looking at pictures of what PoPvillagers are growing in their gardens 🙂
