  • very good deal. a good deal even w/o the ensuite. its probably gone already.

  • I think great deal. Could see this renting at 3500?

    • Honest question, since we seem to have differing views: let’s say this listing was for a 700 square foot 2-BR, 1-BA, and was otherwise identical. What would you think would be a fair deal?

      • I rent a 2br 1.5 ba about 4 blocks from here that isn’t as nice for 3200

        • Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’re overpaying.

        • To give you an idea, I rent a smaller 2/1, several blocks closer to Logan Circle, renovated <5 years ago, for under $2500. I have an unusually good deal, but you shouldn't be paying significantly more than that to live in Bloomingdale.

          • several blocks closer to logan is actually a much worse area, carlosthedwarf. this condo is literally on the same block as bloomingdale’s restaurants and bars.

          • I don’t want to reveal publicly where I live, but suffice to say the P Street Whole Foods is 3 blocks from my apartment. Are you really going to claim that’s a worse area than Bloomingdale?

  • anyone know what building this is?

not that it really matters, there’s no way even the largest 2-BR in Bloomingdale is worth $2900 a month.

Am I the only one who’s suspicious of the fact that they only showed one (rather small) bedroom in these pics, and that the living room adjoining the kitchen also seemed quite small? I see nothing here that looks stunning and penthouse-like, aside from the skylights.

  • Related: we’re about to rent out our English basement in Bloomingdale (far northern end near the reservoir). It’s ~850 SF, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, with a shared backyard. Includes all utilities and internet. Not renovated, but all appliances and features are less than 10 years old. Pretty decent light for an English basement. Is $1500 too much? Too little?

  • Wow, as owners in Bloomingdale considering having to temporarily rent out our house for the next couple years, I am really surprised people think this is a good deal – but in a good way!! I’ve been praying we could get $3000 for ours, and it’s a full house with 2 beds/2ba upstairs, half bath on the main, and a full studio apartment downstairs (separate w/d, separate kitchen, full bath, etc.). Soooo if this is worth 2900 then we could definitely break 3k!! Yay!

  • I’m kind of surprised people think this is a good deal. I find the space to be fairly uninspired for a “Stunning Penthouse.”

    • I find it neither stunning nor penthouse-like. However, it is a good-sized, well equipped place that is fairly walkable to metro. So yes, I think it’s a good deal. But take that with the caveat that I don’t know Ledroit Park prices very well. Are they really that much cheaper?

    • Agreed… it sounds good in the description but then the photos are pretty mediocre. I consider $2600 to be the fair price for a 2 bed/1 bath in Dupont, so I always assume that the same would pay for a 2 bed/2 bath in a slightly less desirable neighborhood (said as a small female who likes to go running late at night).

    • It’s a crummy deal. If anyone wants a 2BR, 1 guest loft, 2.5BA duplex two blocks from the U Street metro my old building is renting an apartment for $3100. Huge space, over 2000 sq ft. Anyone paying these prices in Bloomingdale is getting ripped off, especially with all the excess “luxury” rental capacity.

  • Man… I still remember when I looked at a two bedroom apartment in Bloomingdale for 1,200.

The rent in this city has gotten insane over the last five years.

    • I remember when half of Bloomingdale was boarded up houses! Ten years and now 3k+ in this part of town is a good deal. Yikes.

  • I’m surprised people think this is a good deal. I love Bloomingdale, but this place isn’t terribly nice and at $3k a month you can find something newer and nicer.

  • I actually looked at this condo 5 years ago to buy but found a better deal at the other end of the same block. I will say as condo’s go it felt HUGE, it is the entire back side of the building. It is a Penthouse as it is on the top floor and that is what Penthouse means in general (along with extra amenities). having the extra half bath is really cool ad uncommon in a condo 2.5 baths. It was luxury when it was remodled but would not say today it is luxury, just nice. The KICKER is the view. How many people can wake up and see the Capitol Dome and Washington Monument from their kitchen, dining and living room. That is impressive. Parking is not bad on street and the bus system is pretty good, and living in Bloomingdale I have to say, outside of Dupont/Logan it is the coolest hood in DC : )
