Tragic Ending to Search for 75 year-old Mary Houston – Found on Wed. Ruled a Homicide


Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide in the 800 block of Channing Place, Northeast.

On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at approximately 11:12 am, an adult female was found deceased in the 800 block of Channing Place, Northeast. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending autopsy.

On May 8, 2014, members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the Cause of Death to be blunt force injuries and asphyxiation and the Manner to be Homicide.

The decedent has been identified as 75 year-old Mary Houston of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

  • This is such a shame. She looks like she was such a nice lady. She probably never hurt anyone in her life. The perp(s) should rot in hell for doing this.

  • It’s a terrible story. She had Alzheimer’s. She and her husband were having lunch in Shaw, she got up to go to the bathroom, and never came back. Apparently she tried to walk home and was attacked. What an awful situation. I feel so badly for her family, especially her husband.

  • This is very sad, and learning about what happened to her makes me very angry. I truly hope that karma comes back to the lowlife(s) who killed her with a vengeance.
