Found iPod in NoMa:

“On my commute this morning, I found a blueish/purplish 8GB iPod Mini on the sidewalk in front of the McDonalds on 1st St NE. Doesn’t seem to have any info on it regarding the owner, but I’d like to try and get it to the owner if possible. Any thoughts/suggestions?”

Found Keys/Metro Cards (12th & D, NE):

“I found a set of keys last night that were attached to a carrying case. There were two metro cards inside. I’d love to get them back to their owner–please email me to give a brief description of the case/keys or the metro card numbers to identify them, and I’ll figure out a way to get them back to you! merecain at yahoo”

  • For the Metro cards, if they’re registered maybe WMATA can help reunite them with their owner?

Well, I called WMATA and they said they would not tell me whether they were registered or not. So I can drop them off with a metro station manager and hope the cards are registered, and that the person makes it to their Lost and Found, but I thought I would try this first. I feel a little hesitant to just hand them over to WMATA, but maybe I am overly paranoid!

It was RIGHT outside the Lovejoy building, and I think they belong to someone who lives there because of an access fob–so I also called their management and asked them to send out an email.

      • In that case, fob yourself into the building and try the keys out on each door lock until you find the one that opens!!
But seriously, thanks for taking the trouble to return them. Someone will be glad to get them back.

Haha, maybe I should try that 🙂

I posted on Craigslist, too–any other ideas about where to post? I think if I lost mine, I would check there first!

          • The newhilleast listserv would be your best bet. Might want to post to capitolhilldc too for good measure.

          • If you think it’s from a particular building, a sign on/near the door should work. Or a sign on a signpost near where you found them, someone who lost keys there is likely to pass by there again.
