From WMATA:
Metro today began accepting online orders for its commemorative 2013 Inaugural SmarTrip cards. Featuring an image of President Barack Obama, the reusable plastic card comes pre-loaded with a One-Day Pass that provides unlimited travel on Metrorail on the day it is first used. Each commemorative card costs $15, which is only $1 more than the cost of a one-day paper pass and $4 less than the cost of purchasing a SmarTrip® card and One-Day Pass separately. As an added bonus, the commemorative SmarTrip® can be used as a “flash pass” for unlimited Metrobus travel on Inauguration Day, January 21.
On Inauguration Day:
Metrorail will open at 4 a.m. and close at 2 a.m.

I know cycling has problems, but the crackdown on juicing has gone too far.
All I know is I am tired of seeing every renovation is just a gut job, then a unoriginal...
I love Bacio pizza in Bloomingdale! They don't offer delivery but great neighborhood...
311? I think I found the flower thief. Suspect is helmeted male, hopped up on apple...
I tried their kabob last weekend, it was pretty good and a lot of food for the price....
That was fast. Wish Metro could be relied on to be this *fast* for other more everyday issues.
Aw come on, now–the breakdown of the Dupont South escalators was pretty darn fast…less than a month after re-opening!
I’m not sure why, but I’m irritated by their photo choice. Not the most “Presidential” picture ever.
It’s appropriate for the least “presidential” president ever.
What does that even mean?
It means that Anonymous is still bitter about the election, and feels the need to hide his snarky comments behind an Anon name.
kyle-w is sooooo much more brave!
i wonder what president was actually presidential.
Pretty much agree with Anonymous @ 3:46 PM.
It was probably a stock photo they had to pay lower royalties for.
This strikes me as one of those wonderful “souvenirs” that ends up in the trash can or just taking up space.
If you want an inauguration souvenir, wouldn’t a t-shirt, plate from the Franklin Mint, or even an FBI hat provide a more lasting memory?
really, REALLY, embarrassingly bad photo choice for the inauguration.
How can the cost of $15 be only $1 more than the normal cost? My math tells me that is $11 more.
Unlimited 1-day passes cost $14.
Instead of wasting time (and $) playing in InDesign to create the graphic for this card, WMATA should be improving rail and bus service.
Yes, because a (likely on-staff) graphic designer would otherwise be working in the tunnels repairing track. Of course.
It’s almost identical to the special card they offered four years ago.
Why does the slogan “America Makes History… Again” sound so much like a bad film sequel tagline?
