I ran into a worker at the YES! Organic Market on Barracks Row who said if all goes well they will be opening August 10th in the former Blockbuster at 410 8th Street, SE.
The folks from Chipotle have revised their opening date for 413 8th St, SE across the street to August 13th.
The Yes! has a gigantic sign up now. It looks great!
If you’re ever in neighborhood, do find out what’s going on with 523 8th St SE (formerly Jordan’s 8). It looks like there’s finally some work going on in there and I’m curious.
Jordan’s 8 is going to be a Bosnian restaurant: cevapcici, borek, goulash, etc.
523 8th is becoming a new Serbian restaurant by one of the partners at Masa 14 and El Centro D.F.

How cool! I’m not sure I’ve ever had Serbian cuisine but I’m thrilled to see it’s going to be something really different that’s not elsewhere in the neighborhood. Thanks for the responses!

Anybody know if Yes! will be bringing back their bulk spices section when they move? I was so bummed when they got rid of it.

This was exciting, until I walked in. Why does it smell putrid in this store? Isn’t the food supposed to be fresh?
I thought I’d pick up some bread and almond butter, just to supplement the eastern market visit. The ezekiel was a whopping 6.87. A mass produced brand of bottom of the line almond butter was 13.71. Is this some sort of sick joke? Why the hell would anyone choose to shop here? Useless.
