Whoa! Taqueria Nacional Moving to 1409 T Street, NW
Yesterday afternoon I spoke about how the old post office building on T St, NW was nearly completely demolished except for the facade. We had previously learned that Bakehouse would be moving into one of the retail spaces. Todd Kliman tweets more huge news this morning:
“Taqueria Nacional will be relocating to 1409 T Street NW, the old T St. Post Office — per Johnny Fulchino.”
Taqueria Nacional is currently located at 400 North Capitol St, NW behind Johnny’s Half Shell. They got outstanding reviews when we judged them in Feb. 2012. Sounds like a another great addition for 14th and T St, NW.

It’s a good lunch spot and a short walk from my office. I’ll miss their tacos, but now there’s like 5-10 trucks outside my building every day, so I have a lot to choose from. And most days I bring my lunch.

I wonder if Fulchino and Greenwood were pissed about the steady stream of food trucks up the street taking away some of their lunch business? Or I guess they just wanted to make it breakfast/lunch/dinner in a more vibrant neighborhood.
FYI – building it’s connected to is roach infested.
I hope this operation can get past the NIMBYs next door.

God, there goes one of the only fast, cheap breakfast places in the area. I get breakfast tacos there at least twice a week.
