Props to the Cops – Arrest Made in the Homicide of Gabriela Jose Lopez-Hernandez

From an MPD press release:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of Gabriela Jose Lopez-Hernandez.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at approximately 5:50 pm, units from the Third District responded to the 1900 block of Columbia Road, NW to investigate the report of a female who had not been seen or heard from in several days. Upon their arrival, they observed a female suffering from multiple lacerations to her body. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. Subsequently, the victim was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent was identified as 29 year-old Gabriela Jose Lopez-Hernandez of Northwest, DC.

On Friday, September 30, 2011, at approximately 8:55 am, 46-year-old Blanca Emilee Ortiz of Argentina, was arrested and charged with Murder One While Armed pursuant to an arrest warrant, in Argentina by members of Interpol. She was subsequently transported to Washington D.C. where she was turned over to members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.”

    Not likely. Interpol is an administrative information-sharing agency. Arrests are left to the country’s police forces.

    Props to the cops, but not their press-release writers.

  • I give credit to MDP because obviously they MPD determined who they thought was responsible and then omunicated this to Interpol.

    P.S. I’m glad to hear Chief Lanier promises to tackle robberies since Homocides are down.
