  • I wonder why they need to pay for gas? That’s an electric stove/oven.

  • $No dishwasher? Strange

  • I love how gas and water are “included” “for a fee”…I think this means they’re not included…

  • I pay $1700 for a comparable basement apartment–slightly larger, with a private patio and dishwasher, and two blocks from the Shaw metro. So this seems a bit high to me, given the distance from the metro.

    • It’s not a bad walk to the Metro (less than 1 mile), and the H buses provide an easy (if not always 100% reliable) link to either the green or red line. Some people really love Mt. Pleasant and will pay a premium to live there (perhaps some people feel the same way about Shaw, I can’t comment on that since I’ve never lived there).

      • A very diplomatic way of stating the obvious: Mt. Pleasant is nicer than Shaw.

        • Not to mention the 42 bus is right there which will take you to Dupont in a couple minutes. I’d prefer Mt. P over Shaw if I were to choose between the two.

  • I love how 650 square feet is considered spacious.

  • If you’re renting, doesn’t water have to be included by law? How can they charge for it?

  • Looks like air conditioning is in the form of at least one window unit. (The photo shows one in the bedroom; presumably there’s one in a window at the front too?)

    • Pretty sure you could condition this space with one decently small (6,000 BTU) window unit. I don’t think it would be very expensive at all since it’s a basement. I use 2 window units, one up and one down, on my row house and had < $100 electric bill last month.

  • Hellllll no.

  • Why didn’t they use some of that space to put in a decent kitchen? And those ceramic top electric ovens are a b*tch to clean.

  • I don’t think it’s a bad deal. I would have been interested in this when I was apt hunting a couple years ago. Agreed the kitchen is a little small though.
