House of the Day

There are so many amazing houses in Ledroit Park but I was really struck by the number of window on the 2nd floor of this one. I don’t think I’ve ever so many narrow windows. Usually you’ll see 2 or 3 bigger windows. I kinda dig how it looks.

  • That’s a hallmark of an N.T. Haller rowhouse. He was a prolific rowhouse architect in the 1880’s. He did thousands. Lots of them get a bit whimsical. He used the narrow, ganged window look alot. Now that you’ve noticed, you’ll notice it alot more.

  • I dunno how I feel about that. I’d have to see how it works from the inside to determine if it’s a good idea or not.

  • Crin, you seem to know your stuff! Do you know anything about he little rock fences that are all over dc? You know, they have odd shaped rocks with what looks like toothpaste holding them together. They’re never really very high. most are a few feet at most….
