I know not all ivy is good for houses but I hear there is one variety that doesn’t harm it so I’m gonna assume this it. I’m also digging the double flower boxes.

  • a morning mojito in that spot is chock FULL of win!

  • somehow I think if you are having mojitos in the morning it doesn’t matter where you are.

  • you’re thinking of creeping fig maybe, but even creeping fig has suckers – they’re just smaller. I think Boston Ivy is supposed to be safer than English Ivy, but it’s still Ivy…. you can’t really remove Ivy without tearing the whole wall down if it’s beeen there a long time. it’s better if you kill the Ivy first and let it dry out, but sometimes the Ivy is the only thing holding the wall together at that point, because the ivy will grow all between the bricks. On the other hand, Ivy does provide some decent insulation value to the brick – since brick walls have pretty much zero insultion value on their own – just thermal mass absorbed from the sun or cool night air.
