“Dear PoPville,
I biked to lunch at Union Station today and was kind of appalled by the bike rack options.
There are twenty or so U-shaped bike racks outside the west side of the station (by the Chipotle) — but many of them are loose on their screws, or missing the screws altogether.
A thief could (and probably has) easily lift the rack, slide the locked bike out, and put the rack back in place. (more…)

From our family, friends and especially the Petworth community as a whole, we’ve been able to sustain a business and now grow!
It is our hope that we’ll see you, and all others you attached to you as we celebrate our new beginning!
The Cookie Wear Boutique in its early beginnings, started in a basement less than 500 feet. That location because of old faulty wiring within building’s infrastructure caught on fire, and destroyed what Michelle Noodles, her family and her collective built. (more…)

“Today, Washington Union Station reveals a restored, historic Main Hall. Covered for the past four years in scaffolding as rehabilitation work was underway, the historic space is now unobstructed, as originally designed, for the first time in almost 50 years.
Opened in 1907 as the General Waiting Room of the station, the Main Hall was well known for its impressive scale, stretching 219 feet by 120 feet, with a ceiling height of 96 feet, and grand gold-coffered ceiling. Historically lined with mahogany benches, the Main Hall functioned as large open space until the 1940’s. The onset of World War II resulted in increased traffic at the station, and ticket counters were expanded from the West Hall into the Main Hall, to accommodate the demand. In the 1970’s as train travel declined, and air travel became more popular, ideas to reactivate the grand space were evaluated. (more…)
