I thought I had put up a different sign from this same spot a while back but I can’t seem to find it. So it turns out this spot has a Web site:

“Louis’ Rogue has one of the largest main stages in Washington, DC. The finest Washington has to offer, we have two main stages and personal stage dances, along with pool tables, video games and 42″ plasma TVs with Direct TV satellite. Located just four blocks from the DC Convention Center, Gallery Place Metro and MCI Arena, we offer alcohol, beer, snacks, food, drinks and dancing.”

It’s located at 476 K Street NW.

This is a two part question. I’ve been curious for a while with so many new bars and old bars on 18th Street, what’s your favorite? Recently mine has become Bourbon. But here’s the second part of the question sparked by a conversation I had with a friend.

For those that are Dan’s Cafe fans – when are you too old to go? Back in the day I used to go to Dan’s fairly frequently but that’s just because my name is Dan and I’m very loyal. But, I’m 34 now and it’s just not as fun for me anymore. Would you say that the average age of 18th St. bar patrons is much younger than elsewhere in the city? Ed. Note: My stereo is now playing “my my my slow descent into alcoholism it went” by the New Pornographers. Seriously. Great now I’ve probably upset my mom.

So what’s your favorite bar on 18th Street? And when are you too old to go there?

It was nice to see this guy making balloon animals for the kids at the corner of 14th and Irving, NW (near the CH metro). And the tips are going to a good cause.

I wonder, though, if this is just another sign of the bad economy.

Per a reader’s suggestion – it’s time for a new PoP contest. I think this is gonna be a good one. There will be three categories. First is best vegetable garden, second is best flower/plant garden and third is best apt./condo/balcony garden. Please send your entries to princeofpetworth (at) gmail (dot) com. In the subject line specify which category you are entering and if possible please attach your photo to the email. Also please mention what neighborhood your garden is from.

Another sign lover seems to have salvaged this sign. I saw it in someone’s yard on Sherman Ave. It says “Mad T Music Box”. They have to get hooked up again. I bet it looks super fresh with the neon shining. Anyone know where this sign came from? A former DC spot?

A reader sent in this photo saying:

She saw this truck “on the 300 block of T Street Saturday night . . . I guess this means someone has a haunted house?”

Then I was at Wonderland and someone said they have lived in a house that had a ghost. So I thought I’d throw this out there – anyone ever live in a haunted house? If so describe what you saw/heard. I wonder if these guys have them music? Dang now the Ghost Busters tune is totally stuck in my head…
