I work in Farragut North, and often frequent the Black Rooster Pub at 1919 L Street, NW. Check out this Twitter petition put together to keep the Peace Corps from forcing the pub out of its building.”
Hmm, I’ve never been to the Black Rooster Pub but it sounds pretty sweet. Not sure how helpful a petition will be but it’s worth a shot. If you’d like to do so you can sign the petition here.
What’s the word on Black Rooster Pub – any big fans out there?

Thanks to all who sent emails about the Garden District opening up in their new location at 1740 14th St., NW. You won’t have far to walk as their previous location was across the street at 1801 14th Street, NW.

A friend of mine lives a couple of blocks away and everytime I’ve passed them I’ve thought they were a terrible eyesore. I’m happy to see that the Bates Area Civic Association has a photo of the removal order which says:
“The notice, authorized by DCRA Director, Linda Argo, cites DC Code that stipulates that billboards must not be located within 200 feet of another billboard and within 200 feet of a residential neighborhood.”
I think this is great news. What do you guys think about billboards like this? What about the big signs on the sides of buildings?

It’s located at 1626 Lincoln Road, NE but the address may be a bit decieving. It’s sorta on North Capitol near Quincy. I’ve passed by this spot, on the other side of the street, dozens of times. I don’t know why I’ve never checked it out myself but thought I’d ask if there are any fans out there?

I thought I had read somewhere that a bar or restaurants was going to move into the old Visions Movie Theater space located at 1927 Florida Ave, NW. Am I imaging that? Anyway, it turns out that the Non Profit AED has moved into the space. From their Web site:
“AED is a nonprofit organization working globally to improve education, health, civil society and economic development–the foundation of thriving societies.
In collaboration with local and national partners, AED fosters sustainable results through practical, comprehensive approaches to social and economic challenges. AED implements more than 250 programs serving people in all 50 U.S. states and more than 150 countries.”
Sounds like a great organization.

I thought this was petty curious. It was located on the inside of the door at the location of the soon to be Wagamama located at 418 7th Street, NW in the old Olson’s book store. Because it’s on the inside of the door I wonder who placed it there.

We’ve seen this sign close up from 1126 H Street, NE but I really like the perspective of this shot from rockcreek. The shoes up top make it all the sweeter.

I actually don’t have any problem with all these signs at Panda Express on Irving Street. For the record I actually like Panda Express. However, here’s the sign I have a problem with:
Do they really need this paper sign stuck into the ground? Can we start a movement to ban all of these stick in the ground signs? I can’t stand all the “We’ll Buy Your House” “We’ll Buy Your Car” etc type signs. And of course we’ll have hundreds of politician signs popping up for the 2010 elections. Who’s with me for a ban of these signs?

Can’t you just get wings cheaper somewhere else… Do folks actually think the wings at Hooters are that good?
And of course this reminds me of a hilarious quote from Old School:
