DC DMV reports: “Due to a technical issue, in-person and online transactions that require photo imaging are currently unavailable. Service to resolve this issue will be completed as soon as possible.”

At around 3:45AM this morning, a man entered my house on the 4700 block of Colorado Ave NW while my wife and I were home and took her purse off the kitchen counter. He came in through our patio door in back, which was not locked at the time.

By coincidence I happened to be awake and heard the door open, so I immediately ran after him but was too far behind to catch him. He ran down the alley, got onto a bike, and rode away. (more…)

“The Fifth District is experiencing a sharp increase of motor vehicle thefts, particularly in NoMa between North Capitol and First ST NE, and New York Ave and M ST NE, and in the Union Market area.

Many of the stolen vehicles are vehicles that are left running unattended, often by drivers delivering food. MPD is increasing patrols in the area, but need help from the public to prevent these thefts. Here are few prevention tips: (more…)
